We promote a range of activities and encourage residents across all four of our locations to take part in our care home activities and events to help with quality of life, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
Moving into a care home or residential care facilities can be daunting and scary and we understand the mental impact it may have on our residents. At Plas Newydd Care Ltd, we strive to ensure that all our residents feel engaged, included and part of our wonderful community. We encourage friendships, visitors and we plan activities that are designed to help residents feel at home.
Our range of activities include in-house entertainment, shows and guests, day trips, gardening, hair & beauty and more. Our activities and social events take place across our four Swansea locations of Plas Newydd Care Home, Yr Hafan Nursing Home, Mumbles Nursing Home and Brynhyfryd Nursing Home. We make engagement a priority and want to promote a feeling of community for all our care residents and members of staff too.
Music & Live Entertainment
At all 4 of our Swansea-based care homes, we regularly host music nights and live entertainment, where local musicians, bands and dancers come and perform, much to our residents’ delight!
Arts
& Crafts
We encourage everyone to choose what they would like to make and believe that arts and crafts can be a great hobby. Arts and crafts activities can include making decorations for individual rooms and communal areas throughout our care homes.
Hair
& Beauty
We also have regular scheduled visits at our homes from Chirpodists, Hairdressers and Beauticians. Our residents love to feel pampered and look their best too, and we find that hand massages, manicures and aromatherapy are always popular.
In-house Entertainment
In each of our care homes we have a dedicated activity organiser, who encourages reminiscence with photos, sing-alongs, dancing exercises and games such as bingo or ball games. We also hold regular residents' meetings to discuss and plan activities with residents themselves.
Planting
& Gardening
There are dedicated planting and gardening areas at all our residential care homes and we encourage residents to flex their green fingers and help us tend to our plants and gardens.
Pets
to Pat
At Plas Newydd Care Ltd, we understand that many of our residents find comfort and enjoyment from animals, and we have regular therapeutic visits from small rabbits and trained dogs, all under the supervision of an insured company and trained carer.
Events
In all of our residential care and nursing homes, we regularly celebrate birthdays, and our summer BBQ parties are always very popular! We encourage family and friends of our residents to join us, to enjoy food, music and entertainment.
